Baptism

Baptism marks the beginning of a journey that blurs the lines between sacred and secular, church and society, this life and the next. It deepens our relationship with God and each other. Alongside the beliefs in the Apostle's Creed, we promise to:

  • Continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

  • Persevere in resisting evil and, whenever we fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord.

  • Proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ.

  • Seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves.

  • Strive for justice and peace among all people.

  • Respect the dignity of every human being.

It's a big undertaking! That's why we promise to keep them with God's help.

Diverse Beliefs and Worship

Episcopalians enjoy great latitude in their beliefs and approaches to holy scripture. Our worship can range from elaborate rituals to simple gatherings of prayer and reflection. The Book of Common Prayer guides our communal worship, much like hymnals help congregations sing with one voice.

Come & See

The best way to understand what we believe is to come and see for yourself!

What Do Episcopalians Believe?.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church believes that God loves everyone, without exception.
We find this message throughout the Bible. Jesus Christ exemplified and brought to life this unconditional love in his teachings and healings, and through his death.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we seek to love and include all people and to serve those in need.

We welcome into the full life and ministry of our church all persons without regard to age, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual identity, ethnicity, disability, religious background, marital status, economic status and personal ability. We welcome you and look forward to learning about the gifts you bring to our faith community. We celebrate the diversity of humanity as part of God’s abundance and grace, and affirm all families and relationships based on love, respect, responsibility and trust. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, as well as those who are questioning, intersex, and allies are welcome and encouraged to participate in the life, ministry, and leadership (both lay and ordained) of St. Mark’s. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.
